Synagogue in Mattanchery-  

A historic monument which attracts many visitors. Once used to be a place of cong regation for the Jewish Community clustered in Mattanchery and surrounding places, who have left India for Israel. 

Among all the common wealth countries of the world, the Jewish Synagogue, Kochi is the oldest existing synagogue. The prosperous Jewish trading community built it in 1568 AD. It was partially destroyed in the 1962 war. Later it was rebuilt by the Dutch. This speaks for the historical importance of the monument.  

The Jewish Synagogue, Kochi is one of the exemplary sightseeing spots in Kerala. For public viewing, the synagogue remains open from 10 am to 12 noon and again from 3 pm to 5 pm every day except saturdays and Jewish Holidays.

Bolgatty Palace 

It is the oldest existing Dutch Mansion outside Holland surrounded by sea. The main attraction of Bolgatty Island at kochi is the ancient Bolgatty Palace which was built by a Dutch trader in the year 1744. In the 1909, th eBritishers took it over on lease.

At present th eBolgatty Palace at the Bolgatty Island is under the governanace of Kerala Tourisnm Development Corporation, ie, KTDC.

KTDC has converted the palace into a heritage hotel with all the necessary luxurious services.  

Location - 3 kms from Ernakulam by boat.  

 

 

Hill Palace, Thrippunithura

 

 

Hill Palace is the larget archaeological museum in kerala, near Tripunithura. It was the administrative office of Kochi Rajas.It was built in the year 1865. The palace complex consists of 49 buildings in the traditional archaeological museum, a heritage museum, a deer park, a pre-historic park and a children's park. The land surrounding the Hill palace has rare Medical Plants. 

Presently the palace has been converted into a museum and is open days except Mondays from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm.

Location - 13 Kms from Cochin on the Ernakulam - Chottanikara Route.

                                                                                                           

 

Kerala History Museum, Edappally

Kerala History museum ia a great attraction for tourists who visits Kerala. Here, visitors can see the historical growth of Kerala state in the southmost tip of India. Famous personalities who played significantroles in the progress of Kerala have been displayed in a chronological order. Through a light and sound show the commentator takes the visitors to a historic background. The history of kerala is represented in 36 visuals through the light and sound shows and it covers the entire history over the past 2000 years.The names of some topics in the light and show are Early People, Nanna of Ezhimala, Senguttavan and Ilango Venmani, Ay Andiran of Pothiyilmama, The Aryan Immigration, St. Thomas, Shankaracharya, Kulasekhara Alwar and Cheraman Perumal Nayanar.

This museum run by  a charitable trust is sitated on the national highway about twelve kilometers from Cochin city. It is founded in the name of a well known industrialist and Philanthropist Shri.R. Madhavan nair in 1987. It is a beautiful building round shaped made of granite. 

Timins : 10.am to 12 noon and 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm.(Closed on Mondays)

Location - 6 Kms from Ernakulam at Edappally.  

 

Kalady - Adi Sankara Keerthi Stampa Mandapam 

kalady is the birth plac eof Adi Shankaracharya the great Indian Philosopher who lived in the 8th centuary. It is known to be the birth place of Adi Shankaracharya, one of the shrines established by the sage himself is situated in Kalady is also the centre of Sanskrit Studies, the Kerala Sanskrit being situauted there. 

The two shrines in the memory of sankaracharya are Dakshinamoorthy and the other Goddes Sharada.

Location - Kalady, 45 Kms from Cochin.

MIGRATION CERTIFICATE for Class X and XII has been received from CBSE, it can also be collected from School Office after 2.40 pm.
